What is the British Show Horse Association? |
The British Show Horse Association (formerly known as The British Show Hack, Cob and Riding Horse Association - BSHC&RHA) was founded in 1935 by enthusiastic owners and supporters of show hacks and cobs.
In 1983 the Association added Riding Horses to its classes and by so doing greatly enlarged its membership. Today the Association is the governing body of Showing for Hacks, Cobs and Riding Horses. It maintains a register of members and their horses and a Panel of qualified Judges.
The Association runs a scheme for examining potential Judges and a probationary scheme for introducing new Judges. It is run by a Board of Directors who are all themselves experienced in the Show ring, as riders, judges and breeders. Social events such as luncheons, seminars and teach-ins are organised and the Association runs its very popular National Championship Show at the end of the Summer, which features many additional classes such as the Best Trained Hack, Cob or Riding Horse and Working Cob and Riding Horse Classes with jumping. In 2005 a Working Cob Grand Prix was staged and this will be repeated in 2006. ****New for 2007***** The Rising Star Championship with exciting final at the National Championships at Addington
